Located in Old 4th Ward, Ammazza creates their pizza in a unique crossbreed between Neapolitan and New York style pizza. Their ingredients are sourced from regional farms and they use meats prepared by the Spotted Trotter. The mozzarella is made in house daily. Ammazza prepares their dough with the finest Caputo OO flour, fresh yeast, sea salt, water and bake it at a fiery 900 degrees in a wood fired oven to perfection. While dining at the urban restaurant and bar, the Pomodoro Caprese salad and the Capricciosa pizza were thoroughly enjoyed!
This local chain is by far one of the best pizza joints in Atlanta. No matter where their location is, it’s always the perfect spot to spend time with either family or friends over a slice. Whether you’re sitting outside on the eclectic patio in Candler Park or overlooking Ponce de Leon Avenue, Fellini’s serves a generous portion for a slice of pizza. Their vegetarian pizzas are loaded with mushrooms, peppers, onions, tomatoes, olives and gooey mozzarella cheese all baked onto a thin crust over a thin layer of marinara sauce that will send your taste buds out of this world.
Grant Central Pizza
Grant Central Pizza has two locations in Atlanta, with one in Grant Park and the other in East Atlanta Village. Grant Central Pizza is a relaxed neighborhood pizzeria.
Sapori di Napoli
This southern Italian style pizzeria will surely make your taste buds sing. Located in the heart of downtown Decatur, Sapori di Napoli is hands down one of the best authentic Neapolitan pizzeria’s in the Atlanta area. The atmosphere is laid back and the staff is so warm and welcoming. Everything is fresh and made in house from the dough and pasta to their delicious Limoncello gelato. Sapori di Napoli put little yeast in their dough to make it easy on the digestive system, and fire it at a high temperature to create a light, crispy crust. If you’re ever in downtown Decatur, swing by Sapori di Napoli to get a real taste of southern Italy.
S & J’s Wood Fired Pizza
This mobile local pizza staple brings their pizzas to Atlanta area farmers markets and events. Although S & J’s Wood Fired Pizza is technically not considered a food truck, the pizza is cooked out in the open for patrons to experience their kitchen in live action. The pizza is baked in a wood fired oven from Italy over white oak chips at 800 degrees to give each pizza that one of a kind S & J’s taste. Three Cities Pizza
This new pizza shop recently opened in the Sweet Auburn Curb Market this fall serving New York, Chicago and Detroit style pizzas. The small shop has a bar and a seating area to enjoy a slice of heaven. Three Cities Pizza caters to lovers of the three great American style pizzas. Of course, as a fan of the New York style thin crust pizza, I ordered a slice of the New York style veggie pizza topped with olives, onions, green peppers baked into perfection. If you ever find yourself in downtown Atlanta, be sure to swing by Three Cities Pizza and get a taste of the Three Cities.
